Gerrard still has a very, very soft spot for Rose, but is careful to not do anything about it because she's made her decision and is happy with Caled.
He finds it hard to understand how she can keep such a cool head while working triage, but becomes so flappy and uncertain when fighting. He thinks that the two things would involve largely the same thinking (pressure is pressure) and doesn't see any difference, though has tried to hypothetically reverse the roles and seen that it would definitely be a hard job to make such decisions.
He was very pleased to have her around, for all the fact he'd rather she hadn't had to go through it. He thinks that without her holding the pastoral side of things together, the party would have devolved into infighting and violence no matter he'd tried to stop it. She's one of the main reasons they all got home.
Mostly, however, he worries that a) she's going to be scarred for life after the year they've had, and b) one day even Caled might not be enough to stop a gang of arseholes first taking advantage of her naivety, then just taking advantage.
