Today At Work...

magicaddict...a older woman in an iffy twinset came up to our recently closed door at about five past three (we shut at three, and have done for over three months).
She tried the door, noisily.
She then looked at the opening hours poster for approximately thirty seconds, as though it were a japanese VCR manual.
She then walked over to the window, stuck her face right up against it, and looked at us as though we were dung.
She then walked off, returning with two young, rather large men, who tried the door altogether more roughly. Thankfully, it held firm.
She then returned to the window, casting ne'er a glance at our obviously superfluous opening hours poster, stuck her face up against the window again, and banged on it repeatedly.
When we looked over at her from balancing our tills, altogether rather quizzically as we'd been watching this little debacle out of the corners of our eyes for some minutes, she asked repeatedly, and loudly, "why are't you open? Why aren't you open?"
Because we're closed, you fucking cretin. Less than two hundred yards away is another branch which will be open for another two hours.
Either
a) This woman is illiterate as she can't read the poster, innumerate as she can't tell the time, and believes breaking and entering with menaces is a good way to get served.
b) This woman believes that such behaviour is appropriate, as the branch being closed is a direct result of the machinations of the people present inside, and they should be punished.
If I had to pick one reason why I'm glad to be getting out, the criminal arrogance of those who believe themselves superior because they're a customer may well be it.
