...three roleplaying games.

But I'm in no mood to discuss those right now.

The following arrived from Emma Gray, ICIA liaison to BUSMS, today:

HI Doug,
This may seem slightly out of the blue and I don't expect a reply or anything but I have been thinking about BUSMS over the last couple of days as rehearsals are due to start reasonably soon for Aint Misbehavin' and I just wanted to say that I believe the society really missed your presence, performance, voice and leadership (especially in terms of power, diction and harmony) after the production of Sweet Charity.

I do not know the reasons you decided not to continue singing with the society and I can only guess that perhaps it was to do with the overall running of the production and the communication (or lack of) between members of the production team and indeed from the production team to the cast. If these were part of the reason let me assure you that I for one made my feelings very clear on these issues.

Anyway perhaps that is all now irrelevant but I simply wanted to say that I think you are an absolutely superb performer and vocalist and I certainly missed you in rehearsals and if you decide that you would like to return to the society this year it would be a pleasure to have you back (and would certainly make my job easier in terms of teaching harmonies!!!)

I should just add that the contents of this email are strictly my feelings and I have not discussed this with anyone but I am certain that many other members of BUSMS also miss your presence.

I hope you are having a nice summer and have managed to take at least a small holiday from your work

Best Wishes
Emma

With this and this fairly strongly in my mind (and pointing out to those who weren't aware that I resigned from the Student Musicals Society telling them that I never wished to work for such a band of pretentious cliques (sic), of which she herself led one, ever again), I think my response was extremely diplomatic.

Well well. How about that.

I shall refrain from replying in the manner I find myself so dearly wishing to, and instead point out that I will not be attending the university next year, so will be ineligible to take part in the show.

I trust this is the last I shall hear on the matter.

If that wasn't enough to leave me in a moderately ticked off state, who should subsequently call but my previous landlord's wife, to tell me the house was in a horrendous state, there was still property everywhere, and if it wasn't tidied and clean inside of two weeks, no-one would get their deposits back. This took place in an extremely terse tone of voice, not allowing me a response, or even to say goodbye, before she hung up.

It's a while since I've been spoken to like that, and I found I don't appreciate it any more than I did the last time. My area is clean and tidy, and the house is devoid of my property, with the exception of a double air mattress that I will be picking up tomorrow. I don't know who's the stuff is, and I know she doesn't either, but her attitude is not remotely acceptable and I find myself considering inviting her to keep the deposit as means of redressing the obvious injury I seem to have done her, and having nothing further to do with the matter whatsoever.

Enough. Moving on...

The weekend was improved greatly by the fact that Emma (my Emma, not the above stupid bint) was there - suffice to say the three games we played over the course of Friday night, Saturday and Sunday were made even more interesting, even more fun and passing bearable by her presence respectively. I still worry that in her absence I wouldn't bother going to TL games, but I've submitted my player request so it looks like I'm going to next year.
The entire weekend passed wonderfully because she was there. We spent every moment together and loved it, and I'm going to sit here and twiddle thumbs until Friday, when she comes up from Reigate again and life becomes fun once more. Time passing during the week seems rather grey and drab in comparison.

...guess she had to have the last word after all.

This received moments ago, directly reprinted as received.

I apologies if i have said anything out of line i didnt know that i had and am very sorry if that is the case

Anyhow as requested i will not mention 'the matter' again (although i would like to point out that i dont know what 'the matter' is and all i was meaning through my email was to thankyou for your work with BUSMS last year and let you know how much i admire you as a performer).

I wish you well for the future

Best Wishes
Emma

Did I, perchance, manage to twang me a nerve there, do people think?
