...well, partially.

I don't have the job.

Yet.

I received a phone call on Friday saying that they liked the answers I gave in the interview, and that I had passed the academic assessments with room to spare, but had fallen down on the case study exercise we did at the end of the interview (the bit where I presented and forgot a page/didn't bother with a conclusion). In their words, it "exposed gaps in my understanding".

However, all is not lost. They want me back to do the case study again.

I have just spent the weekend at Emma's, having her father give me the fastest crash course in business studies EVAR. His take on what I did in the case study was summed up with his considering what I'd done for a moment, and taking a deep breath.

"Let me tell you what I would have done..."

He's given me a raft of notes, none of which I touched on originally, and which present a far more structured case. Plus, they're transferrable in the event that they come out with a different study.

This would be easy, if it were not for the fact that they originally invited me to go on Thursday afternoon. Today, they called again and pushed it back to Tuesday morning. My managers had spent most of Friday moving heaven and earth so I could have Thursday afternoon off - I can only hope the other is also possible.

It's this close. It's almost tangible. I am never going to get a better chance with this company. I have a week to brush up on my buzzword bingo, talk to other BAs to see how they would have done it, sponge off project manager guy and generally pack as much wah into my head as physically possible. I don't care if I forget it five minutes after the interview finishes.

I am going to get this job. By hook or by crook, I am going to get this job.
