Emma's clutchless car was taken to the same garage that treated my Astra so sparklingly last month (sourcing parts in hours, full quotes given before any work commenced, fast turnaround time, outstanding service), in the hope of the same treatment. They thought they overheard Emma say that any repairs needed doing as she needed the car.

They took this as a go ahead to order a premium brand new clutch, and spend six hours installing it, at a cost of over four hundred pounds.

Boy, were we happy.

Emma diagreed with them noisily, and I did my typical ineffectual whimpering before confirming that we would pay, but it would be the last time we used them. Now they have contacted me with BACS details (as it's being paid in interest free monthly installments), and have confirmed the price is just over three hundred pounds.

Somewhere, ninety-one pounds has gone missing from their quote. I confirmed it with them twice, and didn't bother asking a third time.

Too little, too late, but it's enough to stop me naming them here.
