...Otherworld last night?

Part-animated telling of three stories out of Welsh mythology. Once the slightly clunky live-action part at the beginning was out of the way and people had got to where they were going (and if we ignore the part that they miraculously knew what they should be doing and were IC in their new roles within thirty seconds - hey, this is mythology...expect the unexpected), I enjoyed the storytelling in the animated section. I'm not sure how closely the three stories actually tie together in the mythology, but they were quite closely intertwined in this version, to the point that two of them were almost one, but it kept the story together and allowed the jumping from one to the other without losing its way entirely.
It did have some regular BBC clichés about it - having the main characters' live-action faces appear in the reflections of their animated avatars has been done in BBC animation before - but it didn't detract from what was going on, and served to help my parents understand what was going on, so it can't be said to be a bad thing. The vocal talent was good, and the production artistic - no more than I expected for a BBC commission, but a pleasant surprise all the same.

Cue fanatics telling me that it wasn't a patch on a decent anime and I should pull my finger out and start watching. Bite me - I'll get a round tuit.

Right - my best mate is due to arrive any time soon, and I have to go and get drunk with him. 'Scuse me.
