Oh, while I remember:
If you can get Freespace and Freespace 2 off ebay or somewhere (sometimes listed as Descent: Freespace or Conflict: Freespace The Great War).
They are absolutely fantastic space combat sims, with an epic storyline.
If all else fails, I can copy a set of discs if you want.
