...pointing out that Patrick Moore's comments on how TV has gone downhill since it has started being "run by women" are the words of one of TV's "best loved figures", whose "forthright" views are "what we all love about him".
I'm glad that's been cleared up - I thought he was talking complete bollocks there for a moment.
I agree that TV has gone downhill, but that can be laid almost entirely at the feet of John de Mol (creator of Big Brother) and Simon Cowell (creator of all other post-millenium TV entertainment). Anyone else's contributions pale in comparison. I also have a lot of time for Patrick Moore - anyone who has has watched The Sky at Night will probably agree he is genuinely enthusiastic about his subject, and obviously extremely knowledgeable.
Like his show, however, his views haven't changed since the 1950's, and to be honest he's the only person I've ever heard claiming they were a good time for anything.
