An Open Apology...

...to anyone who became concerned OOC when Watcher went AWOL at the end of Sunday's game.

Yes, sorry about that. It was IC to run that far, but not particularly sensible. I would like to avoid worrying people in the future, but similarly would like (if possible) not to rule out disappearing off again if it is IC to do so.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how these two could be reconciled? Can they be? Or, in the name of people's sanity, should I try to kerb it slightly?

It may be best to let a monster know ooc as you scarper. I was getting concerned ooc slightly but it was something interesting IC at the end of the game and the method of disappearance meant no-one could metagame. Shout at a monster as you flee, then GMs can be assured of your safety and can provide tracking info to scouts trying to hunt you down

Yeah, I would suggest running off a little way (either to be jsut out of sight, or if in one of the feilds, to be out of the fight) and then sticking your hand in the air... if people ask, you can say "I've run off out of sight somewhere" although it will mean somepeople will metagame GRRRRRRR

*grins* You could always try replying to the monster walking past who's been assigned to go and hunt you down, especially if she's not 100% sure she's talking to the person she's been tracking down or a bush...

The situation was fine for me until I was reminded you'd knocked your ankle earlier in the day - I'm confident in you barring an injury, therefore...

I will have my mobile on me on silent at all times during the game. Caroline had hers too. If you go off radar for what you know will be a long time, can you text me or Caroline to that effect. If you've been off radar for a significant time and not seen or heard anything, please check your mobile to make sure we're not trying to contact you.

That said, there are signal difficulties on site too... so check the time when you go off radar and if 30 minutes has expired with no sign of anyone or contact, and you have no signal, please consider hand in the air and locate the monster crew.

All of which has the proviso that I know you love to scout, and I love to scout too - so there will be scenarios where that doesn't work and an elastic judgement should be reached - opportunities to OOC prod a monster who is wandering around with a hand high in the air or in ref tabard should be taken if appropriate, etc.

But enjoy scouting.

Sorry for being a worrier - the game had gone too well up to that point and I suddenly felt karmic retribution coming.

I think a lot of the worry came from the fact it was dark, you'd already injured yourself, and the last I saw of you was you dropping to prone near the tree line.

Just don't injure yourself again and we won't have the reason to panic.
