Wedge Of Things To Catch Up On...
Sep. 4th, 2010 04:38 pm...so the Post-Renewal GBU comes first.
The Good
Having another monster shake my hand for the quality of healing vocals my monster corporealist used during the Sunday battle.
Having the same vocals, embellished a little and yelled at the top of my voice, garner a round of applause from my battle line.
My monster necromancer being blood-eagled by a bunch of rabidly anti-necromatic wolves, then being hugged and thanked for being such a good sport.
Having the GM of the system show up at our tent to encourage Emma out to play.
Having the GM of the system send a personal apology for the monstering he invited us to do not happening in the end. Customer service award.
Ezekiel speaking his mind. For all Lorne didn't appreciate it, he respected it a lot more than any beating about the bush.
The thought of something new in the offing for next time. Getting away from that wah (at least IC, the OOC continues) was a huge relief.
The Bad
Emma having had such a bad time on Friday that it required said GM of the system to show up at our tent to encourage her out to play.
A legitimate cases of bullying specifically directed at Emma with the intention of belittling who she is and what she does. That will go higher.
The thoughtlessness and tactlessness of people who never knew what they were saying. That possibly won't.
Complete incompetence as a bodyguard - nope, Orthae was never going to survive, but Lorne should have died first, or at the very least alongside.
Complete lack of motivation to get out of my tent on Saturday morning. Never been closer to packing up and going home, through sheer not wanting to go IC and interact with the world.
The Ugly
The disappearance of tactics that led to what had been a hard-fought but successful battle for the players into the biggest massacre I've ever had the misfortune to be involved in, the second they stopped fighting people and started on the undead. Most factions out there lost more than half their people.
Rain. Mud never bothers me (I bring several pairs of trousers for that very reason), but rain is uncomfortable to play in for anything more than ten minutes.
The event started out terribly but got progesssively better, and while sitting around until half midnight on Sunday before being told the anti-scouting we'd been hired to do wasn't happening was irritating, we'd gotten far enough from the shitstorm by then that it wasn't that bad. The negatives to this event outweighed the positives, which isn't a good situation to be in, but with the new group on the way, hopefully that'll be turned around the froth will properly come out again.
