That's Interesting...

...some members of the production committee are now claiming they agree with me.
Last night was the BUSMS Christmas meal, and while I cannot recommend 8 Manvers Street's wine list, their food was perfectly good. The lamb steak they served some people was pleasingly rare, my duck was cooked very well and served in a delicious onion jus, the turkey looked a little iffy but was served in reasonable amounts, and even the veg looked good (even though the thought of eating it made me feel slightly uneasy). The only thing that was wasn't particularly good was the potatoes - lacking in flavour though cooked very well. The starter involved a game terrine that actually had chunks of venison quite visible in it - I would have preferred french toast rather than bread that had been shown a toaster with it, but the quality of the terrine itself made up for that - and I am sure that had the dessert actually been taken out of the freezer more than three seconds before it was served, it would have been fantastic. As it was, it was slightly crystalline and too cold to actually have that much taste to it. Once it warmed up slightly, it was very nice indeed. Choclolate and mango are a wonderful combination - when you can taste them both.
Very interesting conversation with Sophie, shared over a glass of that not particularly good wine - apparently she is just as disillusioned as I am over the production committee. She is thinking of leaving the society as well, and isn't sure whether or not to bother with the summer show. I'm not sure if she is saying this to try to make my current demeanor seem less eXtreme, or whether she actually feels that way. Time will tell, though I imagine come show nights, she'll forget all about it.
Extorting £30 out of the treasury to pay for the spethial posters - the big brightly coloured ones that they seem to want. The colours they have given me to put on to their design are absolutely terrible - baby aquamarine, fuchsia pink and incontinence-pad yellow - yet they seem to love them and we'll be selling the show based on them. They claim it's the colour scheme for the show - on the basis of that, I weep for the potential audience's vision.
They won't be happy with my leaving early either - GASP are having another rehearsal at lunchtime, and I will be leaving the meeting to go to it.
Dom is talking a lot of sense about a re-release of the rules as player guide, GM guide and monster manual - it would give the players something to aim at while keeping what needs to be secret, secret. Chances of it ever getting done, however...
Oh well - it's a start. At least older members are agreeing with some newer people. Maybe it's just me they line up to hurrumph at.
