...twice in a row. I believe this is telling me something. I need to get a better alarm.

Tuesday night went altogether better than I had thought it would. It was indeed only Jorge, Purvi, Nathan and myself (Livu and Hamid decided that they both simultaneously felt "a bit ill" and cried off early), so we were at least able to talk without having to work to understand what everyone else was saying (Jorge and Purvi both speak fluent english, wheras Livu was only here for a short time so had no reason to learn it and Hamid can't actually be bothered).
Kieran and his wife obviously host guests quite often. She took our coats as soon as we arrived, he served up wine, and there were olives, tortilla chips and salsa on the table waiting for us, followed up by pizza, samosas and cheese. Conversation drifted nicely between different people leading it, never faltering for more than a couple of seconds for over three hours. By the time it did so twice in the space of ten minutes, we decided it was time to give it a rest and headed off home, but not before sampling the outstanding views of the city that Odd Down offers to its residents. A much better night than I expected.

Last night was supposed to be Elizabeth's Christmas meal, but (and I only say this considering the state of the house) thankfully, everyone else had somewhere to be. The MSN session with Dori fell through the floor when my computer stoically refused to fire up messenger, and continues to do so now. Quite how annoying I found this, considering that both I and, I'm sure, she had things planned for the session, is hard to describe, and leaves me wondering how to get it done. The only place I know I can get on MSN reliably is here at work, and I don't have the several hours free that we need to get it done.

The saga that is buying presents for my parents continues. Dad's scotch finally showed up yesterday, after my having waited for it since the end of November. It required me emailing the shop and asking if I had missed delivery or something, prompting them to find out that the postal service had lost it - how about that, the postal service "lost" a bottle of scotch - and the shop to send another one. It turned up two days later and I sent an email of profuse thanks for both turning it round so fast and trusting me. If the first one ever does turn up, I'll see if I can score some more points by sending it back to the shop untouched.
The XD card reader that should be compatible with the ferret-driven contraption that is mum's computer and will make her digital camera something she can actually use remains on order, and I am trying to work out something else I can buy (other than the regular Thorntons) that actually has some size to it. It's all very nice getting useful presents, but it's nice getting nice ones as well. Clothes are always a good place to start, and (thanks to her) I tend to have a better concept of womens fashion than most men, but I am always loathed to try buying clothes for people when they aren't there.

Approaching RP weekend again with usual anticipation. I am interested to see how what is becoming Tiny's team fairs after the tongue lashing that will probably be due them after the shambles that was last time. Hopefully we'll get another smash n'grab job - it seems to be the only thing we're good at.
Sorin should have his own dice by saturday, as long as Wicked Dice keep to their email and post it to me rather than my parents. It will be a refreshing change not to have to keep borrowing other peoples dice, and they'll all be the same. I think they might have some more colour on them than Sorin is used to (his colour is blue, between petrol and midnight), but hopefully they'll look as good in real life as on their website. They'd better be, considering what I paid for them.
Sunday sees me playing Daenaram and dangling my final death threshold before a GM once again as he and other reprobates tackle the baronys very own Crystal Maze. Anyone who wants to kill him off is going to have to get all the way through me in bloody-minded mode to do so, but with the powers of statting at his command, I doubt Darren would have much trouble doing just that if he wanted to. He's promised potential prizes, however, and that's worth a try.

Why do my characters end up making the strangest friends? The psychotic death mage who was on good speaking terms with the gladiator, and now the hedonistic freedom priest who is looking at going into business with the straight-up order priest. It's a good idea Steve's had, so lets see where it goes...

Clothing-but-not that always seems to work well for older females (or so I've found) is wraps. Monsoon/Accesorise has some gorgeous ones, although they're a bit pricey, the alternative being tie-rack, which also has some very pretty stuff.

Wraps aren't really her style (well, I can't say that for certain, I've just never seen her wearing them), and I can't buy scarves because she's overseen the buying of some of those for my paternal grandmother and if I buy them for her she'll think I'm implying she's old.
I imagine it'll be something general and decorative - but that's so hit-and-miss.

Wasn't the post office - the one they carried arrived very quickly. He used a private delivery service for the first bottle. Go figure.
