Why Oh Why...

...do mens leather gloves only come in boring colours?
Recently, I acquired myself a pair of black leather gloves, G. Delacroix for the portrayal of. They're perfectly good, serviceable gloves, if ever-so-slightly on the large side (I have small hands). When they arrived, and I was trying them on, a though occurred to me - wouldn't it be cool for Rhinyn to have a pair of gloves so his hands don't seize up when night working?
Perfectly reasonable, I thought. Rhinyn's colours are splashes of petrol green and mid brown on a black background, so off I go round the net looking for a pair of mens petrol green or mid brown leather gloves, in a reasonably small size.
Clearly, men no longer wear gloves for style or to match their outfits.
I can find dark brown, light brown, beige, black, and various other colours, camouflage and ski-gloves in green(ish), but nothing that looks like something you would wear to ninj round a forest if your working colours are petrol green and mid brown (considering how petrol green typically isn't a foresty colour, I melt into green backgrounds, especially at night, really quite well). Brown would be the logical choice as down my arms I have green-brown-green, but a pair of green gloves has taken my fancy for some reason. Of course, I could wear black, to match the shirt, but it's a chance for another bit of camouflage that I shouldn't have to pass up due to a lack of supply.
The only remaining option is womens gloves - more colours but very small so I need to find them in "extra large". Cue going into ladieswear departments in town (with Emma in tow to make sure I don't get thrown out for being a voyeur) and trying to find a pair that fit me. Ebay have a couple that I am verifying the size of and might be alright, but I would much prefer it if somewhere, some mens accessories supplier made petrol green leather gloves. It's not too much to ask, is it?
That rant over, now I have to go and try to put together one of my trademarkedly dynamic and striking slide shows, in a way that Kieran (king of all things drab and mundane and, above all, beige) actually likes, before Monday. Phaer my l337 PowerPoint skillz...

Date: 2006-04-27 09:25 am (UTC)About putting him in the noble nobility page - the entire thing about the Delacroix is that they aren't notable nobility. They're not far above commoners and were in real danger of dropping off the radar altogether. Before Gabriel turned up, complete with a past that tinged with enough intrigue to be intriguing and set about getting himself into the Embassy, I would have been surprised if anyone outside the Port (or even in it) besides genealogists and notaries was aware of them.
He's still quite a while from being played, so I was planning on hanging back on sending a roster post so he really was an unknown until he arrived (a couple of weeks before showing up live), but if you want a short blurb on him so you can do several at once, you'll have one by the weekend.

As you have small hands, maybe you could try ladies' gloves?
