...plenty going on to keep me occupied, but leaving me with rather a lot to do before Friday.

Our Friday night Vampire group contains three bouncy, brightly-coloured cute things who view being turned as somewhere between "something to be made the best of" and "bring it on, bitches!". Of the other two, one is a terminal pessimist who rubs everybody up the wrong way because he doesn't want to go to parties celebrating what he has become, and one is a machiavellian puppeteer who is planning world domination from his own backyard. The players are myself, Steve, Elizabeth, Caroline and Emma - I'll leave who is playing who open to speculation.

Three things that immediately occur to me when playing Vampire are thus:
1) Auspex 2 is off the chart in the usefulness stakes.
2) Softly softly does indeed seem to catchy monkey.
3) I have to learn how to step off one pavement and appear on the other. It's cool.

The party have been enlisted to investigate an influx of new vampires into Chicago. After other people failed like arts students to make contact with them, my guy went and stood across the street from one. And looked at him. Cue conversation about ten minutes later, and my feeling smug. Potential to play both, one, or no sides occurs to me by turns.

Exalted saw the spirit of phase shift leap out of Sorin and land in Jomar for the session, as the party continued their journey towards the elemental pole of fire to recover the shard of keyness required to unlock the door to their personal manse. Notable highlights included the kneecapping of thugs hired to watch the party in Yane simply because Sorin doesn't enjoy being followed around if the pursuing party is not attractive and female, the breaking into of houses, raiding of fridges, stealing of spouses and generally psychotic behaviour, all enjoyed while the resident lawman was shifted out of reality and stuck at the inn. Ranek and Sorin actually got on for once and managed to do nasty things to bad people all over the city. It was quite impressive.

Saturday was also notable for another wonderful morning spent wandering round town with Emma. These strolls are really enjoyable and a good way of waking myself up at a reasonable time on a Saturday morning - nothing like the opportunity to spend quality time with the woman you love to get you awake and moving round, even on a Saturday.

Sunday was mainly spent writing up the last of Gabriel's backplot. It's about as big as it's ever going to be - any more would be purely fleecing - so is likely to be sent off soon. I like what I've come up with for him in both his history, his outlook on life and his personal theories of the cosmos. Best of all, I actually understand them enough that I could rationally enjoy a theological discussion with similarly inclined characters wherin both people's opinions are modified - I call that being deeply in character enough that I am ceasing to think like Doug and more like whoever I am playing. I managed it with Vaexarius - not that anyone much bothered to find out - and I think I'll enjoy the same depth of immersion with Gabriel. All that remains now is to hope that everyone else likes him. Or hates him. As long as he's over.

Monday' night's Warhammer was a bit of a non-entity for Pieter - all my own fault, of course, when I had him leave the rest of the party in the lurch the previous game. Now safely ensconced in the Middenheim Watch, in six weeks time he'll have saved up enough pay to buy a new pack of quality playing cards and at least partially repay his perceived debt to Alaina.
The plot for the game remotely revolved around someone resembling Mother Hubbard and the refugee caravan she was travelling on that the party had been enlisted to look after, but that's for other people to talk about. Pieter was a clear twenty miles in front of them for the vast majority of the trip, and managed to avoid all the nasty crap that Jon threw in the way of everyone else. Must try that trick more often.

Monday also involved my first successful attempt to cook for Emma - she seemed pleased with it, and while truth be told it wasn't particularly hard, it was still a relief to not make any mistakes and have someone else appreciate what I enjoy eating myself on a regular basis.

I am the proud owner of these gloves - they're the right colour, now all I have to hope is that they actually fit. If they are a standard ladies large, they should be a men's extra small, which is about right for my hands.

Emma and I enjoyed a sonderful picnic of grapes, strawberries, whipped cream and Ben's Cookies at lunchtime today, only cut short by the rain starting to fall. The Plug didn't really have the same atmosphere as the amphitheatre, but Emma was still there, so I was happy with the situation.

Right, time to finally go home and prepare for film night, primarily involving deciding what to watch...
