As Though I Was Never Away...

...not only did it rain for a fair portion of the time I spent in the Lake District, my photos didn't come out as well as I thought they would either. Of the hundred and seventy or so that I kept, about ten are reasonable.

And if that weren't enough, I missed my girlfriend winning a wrestling match to boot. *Headdesk*

Lake Windermere is still where it should be, as is The Wateredge Inn, which remains my favourite pub. The combination of draught Coniston Bluebird, the unusual occurrence of modern decor that is both comfortable and easy on the eye, and this view combine to make it just about the ultimate drinking experience, especially on a sunny afternoon.

Romney Grange, where our flat was located, remains an utter eyesore on the outside but downright perfect indoors (this was the second time we spent the holiday there, and it won't be the last). Lakelovers turns out a whole raft of beautifully appointed self-catering accommodation throughout the entire area - with the view our flat has, God only knows how much its retail value is.

A quarter to ten is not a good time to start eating if your entire family has been on the beer since early afternoon. It gave both Mum and I indigestion and only I finished it. Generally accepted that the taste was fine, just a combination of circumstances that made the meal slightly less of a success than it could have been. Luckily, my second attempt later in the week was a rip roaring success and mum wants the recipe. Winz0r.

There is some device or other in Coniston Water that causes stones to skim beautifully across its surface. Never before have I got a stone to skip thirteen countable times before vanishing into the water. The fourteenth one was a possible, but under adjudication could not be a hundred percent confirmed. While doubling my previous record would have been a bonus, it didn't take the shine off the occasion.

Serving scotch in sherry glasses is a sure fire way to make it vanish like lemonade. Not that dad and I were complaining, but we did get through quite a lot awfully quickly.

Very pleasing to see that a fair portion of people watched Eurovision this year. I quite liked the winner, though I had it coming second to Latvia, which got nowhere special. Other picks, anyone?

I need to spell check my macros before I put them up. It's not like I'm writing essays or anything. I considered putting it down to my mum's keyboard at home being crap, but where less than ten words are concerned, it's really no-one's fault but my own.

Excuse me, win? It was a draw at best, or called off at worst.

Which is why there needs to be a rematch, oh yes.

It was a draw at best...

That isn't what I heard.

I didn't know about the points for legwork, darn it.

and so the 'no-holds-barred all-girl Bath larp wrestling league' was born.
nhbagblwl for short...

so far, while emma vs judith was a draw, the judges awarded emma the win on points (mainly for better legwork) this leaves emma on top.

league

Emma 1 0 0 1 1
Judith 1 0 0 1 1
Ruth 0 0 0 0 0
Cat 0 0 0 0 0
Lucy 0 0 0 0 0
Liz 0 0 0 0 0
Dori 0 0 0 0 0
Caz 0 0 0 0 0
Ailsa 0 0 0 0 0

Not sure whether to support your wholeheartedy or duck and cover. Probably both.

*refuses to rise to the 'Emma on top' bait*

Better legwork or better legs?

[identity profile] cheekychipmunk.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh no, that's a whole other league table...
Or, if it's not, it will be now

We're going to need a catwalk at this rate.

I don't think Costco sell those.

There are tables, we can be resourceful.
