I Have That Ultimate LARP Feeling...

...and it's not, would you believe, anything to do with the 36hr that leave for in an hour and a half's time.
It's all
marmaladecat's fault, with an assist from
helbling.
The very best characters I come up with don't start from a name, a concept or a set of stats - they start from a piece of music. Listening to this piece of music, which invariably has powerful lyrics and is sung like every word is meant, I see a person. I see the way they move around, the way they respond, the way they spend time alone, in company, and what they hide, if anything. I see the way they fight, what they are willing to do, and how their story resolves.
Don't ask - it's just the way my mind works.
Not many of my characters are spawned entirely or almost entirely from music. Of ones you know, Vaexarius grew spontaneously (and instantanesouly) from ACDC's Highway to Hell, TJ looks better than Neo against the backdrop of Rage ATM's Wake Up, JD turned up on a plate courtesy of Steve gushing over Kamelot's Wander, and Mindstalker grew straight out of Gerard McMann's Cry Little Sister. Of ones you don't and are waiting for their time, I have a TL Barbarian death shaman that lives every word of Metallica's Unforgiven II, an Exalted that is Fisher's cover of Metallica's Dream On, and an LT paladin that shines only as bright as Jo Dee Messina's cover of Tina Arena's Burn.
Recently, primarily-at-fault has been shipping choice selections from her music collection to indirectly-at-fault. One of the bands currently making its way into my music folder for sorting is Within Temptation, and one of the songs that has turned up has been Angels.
It's been on constant reapeat in my headphones for the past two hours, and I can see exactly who it says to me. Now I have to find a character class that allows me to be as bitter, burned, emo and angsty as I want him to be.
Whoops - I think I just genned a Bladesinger.
It's all
