...I'm sure the High Capitulate of Sigmar had been called many things in his life, but that may have been a new one.

Large number of things happened while I wasn't posting, which is why I wasn't posting.

Our current campaign in Warhammer has come to a resounding close, with the Temple of Ulric receiving a right slotting for summoning big gribbly daemons out of turn and the party receiving the accolades of Middenheim for, well, saving their city. Pieter managed to miss another two opportunities to stab Magnus the Pious in the face with his own sword, but got to stand side by side with the High Capitulate and open a can of whoopass on the Brotherhood of the Axe as they advanced on the daemon summoning slaughtering heavily armed warriors like they knew what they were doing. Alaina went through a brief period of being pointy-toothed and unable to lie, cheat and steal with the new sets of cards she'd been bought, but after some creative dentistry and gratuitous flanging now sports a pair of silver front teeth that allow her to predict the future as well as grift to her heart's content. Ali is now in full-time training with the Middenheim court wizard, while her player returns to Essex for the summer, and has been left the amulet of magic focus that was round Felix's neck since it was found. Felix himself has left, probably having got slightly tired of being universally regarded as a domineering, overzealous fucktard with a superiority complex by those he travelled with, and in his place we now have Franz - the court wizard's butler who, with the intake of Ali, is now free to do as he wishes and has joined the party. Mel is still charging into combat and missing the target entirely - probably due to the fact that she's a herbalist and healer by trade who may get her opportunity to shine at a later date...or maybe just due to some bad dice rolls. Who knows. Either way, it's allowed Pieter to graduate to sergeant as a career, and he's now becoming really quite a passable heavily armed warrior.

Everquest II is running beautifully, if with a couple of graphical whimsies once in a while. I can put up with that if it's the only problem I'm going to have, and the levelling up of Aryelle Chantisse continues, having never actually ventured outside the city yet. The amount of roleplay quests and simple hunting that is available in the starting cities has increased by magnitudes since I was last playing, and is very much for the better. It means that you are able, if you want, to avoid being put down like cheap plywood the second you step out of the main gates because you had to go there at way too low a level.

Last weekend was spent at Chris Peach's in Swansea, and there was much imbibing. Unfortunately, there was also much sun which meant that there was much pain on Saturday night and much early knocking off in order to try to sleep away the nausea. It worked, and we were able to resume the following day where we'd left off - drinking in the sun. He remains the best exponent of the barbeque I've ever tasted the work of - and people should be aware that typically barbeque isn't one of the my great loves - even if it does decide to rain the moment he starts cooking and dry out the moment he stops.

The parents birthday run was interesting this year. They have birthdays within three days of each other - Saturday and today - and this time I managed to get my act together enough to send home a parcel containing all of them and the cards at once, so the entire job lot went in one box. It was an interesting time finding a big enough box, and I eventually settled on one that originally delivered several thousand rubber gloves to the chemistry department. No doubt they were slightly confused when it arrived, but it arrived on time and nothing broke, so it served its purpose nicely.

Emma continues to be the truly wonderful, wonderful thing she was when I met her, and I want her never to change. Simple as that.

I've been reading through all the comments I received for Rhinyn's obituary again, and I want to thank everyone who posted one - it's really nice to know he was regarded that well.

Still don't ask me for my opinions on next year's campaign - I now have them, but I'm trying to phrase them in a way that doesn't make me look even more up my ass than I personally admit to being and still says what I want to. There might be an answer in that in its own right, but if that's the case no-one should want me anywhere near it anyway.

Ho-hum, back to the crystals. They're pink this time.

...where I dread the thought of sitting down to create a larp character because I know two thirds of it will be thrown out for reworking?

Where I feel that playing a character involves my mind being put under the microscope for all-comers to dissect and throw in their 2cp worth?

Where I have grown so sick of people expressing their opinions to me that I spend four hours ranting to my own girlfriend about how I hate how it all looks from here?

Somewhere down the line, it all went horribly, horribly wrong.
