...where I dread the thought of sitting down to create a larp character because I know two thirds of it will be thrown out for reworking?

Where I feel that playing a character involves my mind being put under the microscope for all-comers to dissect and throw in their 2cp worth?

Where I have grown so sick of people expressing their opinions to me that I spend four hours ranting to my own girlfriend about how I hate how it all looks from here?

Somewhere down the line, it all went horribly, horribly wrong.

Didn't you know what's what signifigant others are for? They are the best listeners.

Don't know what to say about the character thing :(

She never complained. That's one of the many reasons I love her.

It's not set in stone yet - after all, nothing in TL ever is - so you might see me turn up. If I can find a way to avoid people telling me to run away.

They only tell you to run away cause they don't want your characters to die. I know that's the reason I would, anyway.

It's the reason you did.

I know it's said with the best of intentions, but I knew why they were dying. It was part of the character concept to a)not leave combat, as per my oath b)act like the warrior he thought he was. People telling me to 'run away, you'd survive longer' seemed to me to be suggesting I hadn't realised why.

Whoops, that was still me. Gives away where I am...

Hmmm. I guess that was me. I didn't realise it offended you that much - I do apologise.

Not just you. Half the society told me that I'd survive longer if I ran away - just trying to help and all that. You are, however, the only one who apologised.

Sorry for when I've offended you also,

Yes, and sounds terribly whiny. There are many people a lot worse off than me and I know it.

I really want to try the new things suggested for next year, but I can't be bothered to submit my ideas to the scrutiny again and be forced to endure people's suggested tweaks under the guise of "just my opinion".

if it is TL...
currently we are reworking the shire to fit character concepts. Yes there is a limit to how much it can stretch before it breaks the proposed campaign area, but then we'll ask that that character background comes from outside the area. we hope that we can accomodate 50% of the current club, and 75% of the new intake.

if it is LT...
it's more of a problem, as so much is changing. I do think that only a talkative character will get anywhere this year, because a quiet character will never find out there's a cataclysm happening.

Yeah, it is TL - I don't know of anyone who offered me unrequested LT advice, at least not after character generation.

My background would fit directly within the shire. It would be intended to. Right now, however, I don't have half the information I require in order that the v1.0 idea I would create from what I have been given background-wise doesn't need changing to fit the setting. Do I dare ask for anything else to be nailed down, or should I just duck and cover?

Sympathy and hugs.

And a question/comment - aren't hobbies meant to get you away from stress, not add more?

Larp has in no way ever been a hobby of mine. Before I knew what it was, it was way less. Since I did, it's been a hell of a lot more.
