...I give you Flame Warriors. For relief and reassurance you are not, in fact, at fault, I suggest logging in and seeing how many types you can spot.
I've been strongly put forward for a twelve month post in Barry, working in the research labs for the company that co-sponsored my PhD. If I am offered the post, I'll get paid £30,000 or so for the year. This is more money than my parents wages combined, and moderately disturbing.
I don't want to move out of Bath, away from Emma, regular roleplay games and the vast majority of people I enjoy spending time with, but thirty thousand pounds is sick money. I don't care if you earn more, or know someone who earns more. I still call it sick money.
____________
I really don't want my next character to show up at the Gathering only to be slotted within five minutes of time in because he comes from Mauritanja. I wonder what combination of who's actions (as if I couldn't guess) lead me to having to worry about my character's safety from other characters, rather than from the actual bad guys - you know, the ones that come out of the monster room that we're SUPPOSED to be fighting against.
To those very people, who I doubt are reading, but might be - this is a public journal, after all - thank you. Thank you so very much for turning that particular world to glass for the forseeable future. I'm not allowed to complain, because that isn't the done thing, so I'll just sit here and think it instead.
____________
Steve and Greg have started making noises (quietly) about next year's campaign. This, in turn, explains to me why I'm so pissed off about going IC at the LT being so dangerous - the level of excitement that is instilled in me at playing Rhinyn v2 obviously comes from the memories I have of playing Rhinyn v1, and I know that for a fair emount of time, I won't be getting that at the LT as I'll be looking over my shoulder every ten seconds.
Still, I get Rhinyn v2, in a situation that is probably as well suited to him as I could have hoped for (despite what I hear about some of the campaign ideas that were not picked), and now all I need is a means to be in Bath every weekend to play him.
£30,000 would pay for the train tickets, at least.
