...returns again.
Tell me what your character thinks about Gerrard, and I will respond in kind. All opinions remain resolutely OOC knowledge.
Sapwood on Gerrard
Despite their differences, Sapwood cannot help himself but have the highest respect for Gerrard. He firmly placed himself as the alpha male in the group, and Sapwood knew if anyone could get the group home it was Gerrard.
On the other hand, Sapwood refuses to defer to Gerrard on matters of Nature, and does not hesitate to take matters into his own hands on such occasions. He does get annoyed by Gerrard's refusal to let him follow his path at times, but is usually stubborn enough to do so regardless.
Gerrard on Sapwood
Gerrard is respectful of Sapwood's dedication to his path, but he feels that if he cannot keep it in check and compromise, there is no place for him on patrols.
He feels Sapwood was one of the ones who made his job even harder than it needed to be, with his constant arguing to be allowed to stay behind or absent himself from the party, when staying together was Gerrard's order of the day.
He would like to see Sapwood get back to his home grove so he could relax. He feels that he might come back a much more reasonable individual, and that that point he'd like to get to know him better.
_________
Mistral on Gerrard
Mistral finds Gerrard to be uncouth, pushy, too inclined to let his emotions run away with him, bull-headed and thoroughly disinclined to pay any attention to anyone who does not fit into his worldview.
And yet...
She has noticed, in the few conversations they have had, that he has at least tried to find points of commonality or at the very least things they don't actively disagree on. She respects him for having held such a disparate group together for so long despite people making it difficult, and on the whole she feels that it was the work of Providence to have had him being in command during the last nine months.
Once the patrol has been disbanded and he is no longer her commander, Mistral hopes that perhaps, just perhaps, courtesies can be sufficiently relaxed to talk to him the way he'd prefer.
Gerrard on Mistral
Gerrard has never forgiven Mistral for using "staying true to her culture" as a means to stomp all over his while giving him no recourse. He feels that if the tables were turned, he was a guest in her homeland and had behaved as avowedly Kingdom as she has behaved Cathay, he'd have probably been put to death, outcast entirely or deported by now. He doesn't view that she has got away with so much as fair.
He cannot help but respect her fighting ability, and will always be glad when she's on his side, but after all she has done, he doesn't feel he will ever be able to call her a friend. Professional courtesy may be the best he can manage.

Date: 2010-06-29 10:32 pm (UTC)She's terrified he's currently angry with her, and is hoping that if he is angry he'll manage to forgive her. She's also hoping that they will stay in touch. Gerrard has given her more confidence in herself than almost anyone else.

Date: 2010-07-01 04:26 pm (UTC)He finds it hard to understand how she can keep such a cool head while working triage, but becomes so flappy and uncertain when fighting. He thinks that the two things would involve largely the same thinking (pressure is pressure) and doesn't see any difference, though has tried to hypothetically reverse the roles and seen that it would definitely be a hard job to make such decisions.
He was very pleased to have her around, for all the fact he'd rather she hadn't had to go through it. He thinks that without her holding the pastoral side of things together, the party would have devolved into infighting and violence no matter he'd tried to stop it. She's one of the main reasons they all got home.
Mostly, however, he worries that a) she's going to be scarred for life after the year they've had, and b) one day even Caled might not be enough to stop a gang of arseholes first taking advantage of her naivety, then just taking advantage.

Date: 2010-06-30 12:00 am (UTC)Gerrard was waiting for them at the border, and Marion knew she was inappropriate when she flung herself into his arms, but she was so grateful to him, for making her believe that the hell would end - he’d been telling the truth all along.
That pretty much sums it up... he told the truth, and gave her the hope that she needed... if it wasn't for him she'd probably be dead. :D

Date: 2010-06-30 12:31 pm (UTC)He's also really kind, the way he looked out for her when they met the Eternal's, and the way he lied about her being pretty... ((don't blame me, she's speshul

Date: 2010-07-01 04:31 pm (UTC)She showed that she not only has powerful ability, but that she knew how to use it well. She always had "a bit more" mana when he asked, and wasn't afraid to put herself into fights with no weapon to protect her. He was very pleased she was around, and never happier than when she finally raised her eyes level while not wearing a mask.

Date: 2010-06-30 03:10 pm (UTC)Gerrard is a brilliant commander and the party would not have survived the year without him. Like most of the party, Lilium hoped for Gerrard’s presence on missions, they always seemed easier with him there. Sometimes, Gerrard is a little too good, which irks Lilium, especially when she is feeling particularly contrary. She can’t win an argument against him. Gerrard always seems to know the right things to say, which Lilium finds quite unfair and frustrating, but also admires it.
However, Gerrard’s slightly rough nature, such as certain jokes, haven’t helped Lilium’s pre existing fears, hence why Lilium has sometimes been unnerved around Gerrard. However, with time, Lilium has come to trust Gerrard, and wants to work as hard as he and other members of the party do.

Date: 2010-07-01 04:36 pm (UTC)He finds her hard to read, and worries that she only thinks she is useful when undead are around. He wishes there was something more he could be doing to show how useful he found her presence all year long, whether it was keeping Rose sane, healing, brutalising undead or keeping the party members from slotting themselves. It's hard to be a jack of all trades in this world, but he thinks she did it within the scope of what he sees as Freedom's "jobs" - there was nothing she couldn't turn her hand to, and he was very happy to have someone like that to turn to.
He hasn't yet realised she died because she overcast to get him out.
